Nashville Warbler Leiothlypis ruficapilla Nashville Warblers (Leiothlypis ruficapilla) breed mainly in northeastern North America north of 38°N, with a disjunct, smaller breeding range in western North America from British Columbia, Canada, to California, USA. The type specimen was collected near Nashville, Tennessee, by Alexander Wilson. At the time of describing the species in 1811, Wilson did not know that Nashville Warblers are only transient migratory birds in Tennessee. Nashville Warblers winter mainly in Mexico, but part of the population winters in the highlands of Guatemala, where it is fairly common. Archive of photographs of the month
