Seeing regional endemic birds in Guatemala

The following list includes bird species with a restricted range <500,000 km2. These species are endemic to one of the following regions: highlands of southern Mexico and northern Central America, lowlands of the Yucatan peninsula, lowlands of the Pacific slope of southern Mexico and Central America, or the lowlands of the Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean slope of southern Mexico and Central America. Some have a larger range but are restricted to southern Mexico and northern Central America. Some other species included in this list have an area of distribution of <500,000 km2, but range into northern South America. The nomenclature of this list follows IOC (Gill et al. 2021).
